The Statistical Consideration for Pediatric Dermatology in Korea (1969-1973)

Abstract
|
|
|
4,297 childhood patients who had been visited to OPD of Dermatology Department of Ewha Woman¡¯s University Hospital, from 1969 till 1973, were analyzed in order to persuade the tendency of pediatric skin diseases on these days in Korea.
The results are summarized as follows:
1) Marked increased diseases during late 5 years were a topic dermatitis, impetigo contagiosa, urticaria, furunculosis (pyoderma), and molluscm contagiosum.
2) Top 10 diseases were contact dermatitis 16%, atopic dermatitis 15.3%, impetigo contagiosa 10%, insect bite 7.2%, molluscum contagoisurn 6.9%, urticaria 5.8%, furunculosis 3.9%, varicella 2.7%, moniliasis 2.6%, and hemangioma 2.6%.
3) Most part of childhood dermatitis(76%) had developed at the time of preschool ages, especially the peak incidence was in infant period(25.5%).
4) The peak incidence of seasons had developed on August, 11.6%. The lowest incidence on December, 5.93%.
Frequent diseases in summer season were insect bite, impetigo contagiosa, furunculosis.
Atopic dermatitis was frequent in winter season.
5) Most frequent age group of a topic dermatitis, impetigo contagiosa, furunculosis, moniliasis and hemangioma is 0-1 years group. Contact dematitis, insect bite is 1-2 years group. Molluscum contagiosm is 2-3 years group and varicella is 6-8 years group. The oldest age of varicella patient is 11.
6) There is no significant difference in sex ratio.
